Southwest garden

This homeowner in Fort Worth’s Museum District wanted to create less mowing for his retirement years. A steep hill in the front yard created a maintenance nightmare. The first house on the street to terrace the front yard, several neighbors have mimicked the idea since this August 2014 installation.

A southwest landscape created a low-water and low-maintenance solution that complimented the cedar board siding of this home. A mixture grasses and perennials helped to soften the bold lines of the limestone walls with architectural punctuation found in the evergreen cacti and shrubs. With drought tolerant/sun loving plants, this landscape can take anything the Texas heat can throw at it.
