Our philosophy

"You can waste a lot of money without a plan, a Professional Designed Plan. Obviously, without a plan, there is a high-potential for all of your plants to perish if the right plants aren't selected for the right spot. But, at Weston Gardens, we go beyond the obvious."

"We believe in Sustainable design; in Sustainable choices. This means choosing plants and materials that are water-conserving, resource-conserving (low input in terms of fertilizer & other chemicals,) and environmentally-friendly. On the whole, we try to use Texas Native plants and/or highly-acclimated plants for our climate and soil type. Since Texas is such a large geographic and diverse area, we narrow down our plant selections to those that work for North Central Texas in particular. Plants that are happy in East Texas or Houston are not necessarily good choices for our area of Texas. We have had demonstration gardens here in Fort Worth for over 30 years, which are our living laboratory for testing the right plant choices - so we do know our plants."

"As far as other materials in our plans, we try to incorporate compost and mulch that is local sourced and not from miles away, (think Canadian Peat Moss or Florida Cypress mulch.) If stone is used, we try to incorporate our native sandstone, or at the least use some flagstone from our neighbors in Oklahoma. We aim to use materials that are indigenous to the local area. A sense of place is just as important to us as protecting the environment through limiting energy costs in trucking & freight."
